What I love about linen
When it’s really warm out, linen is the next best thing to being naked. I mean that in the best way. Few fabrics let your skin breathe quite like linen does.
The 100% linen I use for the cosay sets is 150 gsm (grams per square meter), which is the sweet spot for me. It’s light enough to feel like nothing, but it still has enough body to hold its shape and move well.
What I really love is how easy it is to live in. I wash it in cold water on a delicate cycle, and it doesn’t need to be ironed crisp. Even after tumbling it on low, it comes out with soft, rounded wrinkles that still look right. That lived-in look is part of the appeal. It’s clothing that relaxes you instead of asking you to keep up with it.
I also love that it only gets better with time. Every wash makes it a little softer, a little more worn-in, in the best way. It's rare to find something that actually improves the more you wear it instead of wearing out.
And there’s something else I like about linen, too. It comes from flax, a plant that can be grown with relatively little water and fewer inputs, depending on where and how it’s grown. And because linen is a natural, plant-based fiber, it’s biodegradable. I like knowing that the fabric I’m wearing started as a plant and, unlike a synthetic fiber, won’t be around forever.
